Introduction
Before you disassemble your device, it’s essential to understand that this action may void your warranty from the manufacturer. Make sure to weigh the risks and only proceed if you’re comfortable with the process.
Disassembly Process
Disassembling the Oliver Book is quite simple. The first step is to remove the plastic back cover from the tablet part. Gently snap off the cover around the screen to reveal the internal components.
I advise starting from the camera side of the device. The bottom area contains keyboard contacts that may hinder the removal process.
Once the back cover is removed, you’ll see the internal components of the device. You may notice that more than half of the inner space is occupied by the battery.
To access the motherboard components:
- Remove Sticky Tapes: There are two sticky tapes covering the motherboard.
- Undo the Screws: Remove the four screws that hold the cooling plate in place.
Under the cooling plate, you will find two chips:
- Processor: One of these chips is the processor.
- Second Chip: Unfortunately, I don’t know the purpose of the second chip.
After removing the cooling plate, a small piece of thermal pad may remain on the processor.
Therefore, I recommend purchasing replacement thermal pads before you start disassembling the device.
You will also notice that the SSD drive is represented by an M.2 format module. If necessary, this module can be replaced with another compatible one.
You can take a look at the motherboard from a slightly different angle to further inspect other components.
Additional Tips
- Ensure you work in a static-free environment to prevent damaging any components.
- Keep track of screws and small parts for easier reassembly.
Conclusion
Disassembling the Onda Oliver Book is manageable with the right guidance and caution. Ensure that you have the necessary tools and replacement parts on hand before you begin. If you’re ever uncertain, consider seeking assistance from a professional.
